Rumble” is the only instrumental track ever banned from U.S. radio. Officials feared that the track would incite riots, that it would bring about broken glass and drawn knives, that it would give the youth a flame with which to burn down cities.

WRay has been called the godfather of the guitar power chord and the father of heavy metal rock.

The Who's Pete Townshend said he never would have picked up a guitar had it not been for Link Wray and "Rumble." Neil Young was another fan of those basic chords from an electric guitar and played loud.

If I could travel back in time to see one band, it would be Link Wray and the Ray Men.” Neil Young.
